Wholesale Heirloom Sweet Pea Seed

Lathyrus odoratus 'Lady Grisel Hamilton', a highly scented heirloom sweet pea

Lady Grisel Hamilton

A lovely pale heliotrope or lavender with a hooded standard, bred by Henry Eckford in 1895. It remained the most popular variety of its colour until the introduction of the Spencer varieties. Usually has three flowers per stem, occasionally four. As with many lavenders, the seed is small and poor looking, but germinates well.
Note: some authorities give the date of introduction as 1899, but the 'Garden Oracle' of 1896 lists 'Lady Grisel Hamilton' among the new plants introduced during 1895.
